Leon is constructing a series of intricately connected drawings that will together form a Haggadah, a book retelling the Passover narrative. The first is complete and has been exhibited.
Moses looks up hopefully towards the Pharaoh figure, perched atop an absurd and anarchic court. Can the Pharaoh even register Moses’ presence from such a height? If he can, could he even acknowledge it under the gaze of so many? Has Moses not read Kafka’s The Castle?
The artwork takes its inspiration from the tradition of telling the same story in every generation and applying it to each generation's own concerns. B'chol Dor VaDor. As such, the artwork contains traces picked up from each previous generation.
